A message from our President

¹ú²ú̽»¨ (PPI) was formed on April 1, 2008, and has evolved as an organization dedicated to promoting recovery from behavioral health illnesses through the provision of high-quality care to people across their lifespan. Our programs and services are designed to meet the needs of individuals, support the critical work of providers and advance best practices through the use of evidence-based models of care and delivery of the greatest possible value.

PPI is committed to understanding how and why behavioral health illnesses develop and can best be treated. We partner with Penn State Health’s Department of Psychiatry for psychiatrists and substance use disorder physicians and serve as the primary training site for residents and fellows in psychiatry from the department. Since 1971, Penn State Health has been researching mental illness. They continue to pursue breakthroughs that can enhance our understanding and improve therapies and treatment methods. Their research efforts include behavioral neuroimaging, molecular neuropharmacology, sleep research and treatment, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression, substance abuse and more.

As many of our patients have experienced trauma in their lives, our staff have been trained by the United States Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration contracted trainers in providing an organizational culture that supports the delivery of trauma-informed care to our patients.

At PPI, we never forget our mission, to serve the community. We recognize that our community is not immune to the nationwide opioid addiction epidemic, and we have risen to meet this challenge head-on. PPI responded by adding outpatient substance use disorder services to our portfolio. These services include outpatient assessment and counseling, evidence-based Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid disorders including buprenorphine, methadone and Vivitrol Plus, an intensive outpatient program.

Our compassionate, skilled professional staff members provide the highest level of service to our patients. All of our successes are the result of their efforts. We are so proud and grateful to them for their commitment.

We are proud to assist people as they begin and maintain their journey into recovery and wellness. We are on a quest to become a high-reliability organization in behavioral health care by focusing on improving individual and community health while achieving national standards of excellence. The work we do every day is both an important responsibility and a tremendous privilege.
